Evening folks,

I recently built a new system in a Phanteks Enthoo Pro and everything has been great up until today. I seem to be developing some sort of issue with the power button.

Today when I turned my pc on it powered on for a couple of seconds then powered off, the. Powered on again then off and then on. After a few tries my motherboard detects a problem booting and take me to the bios. Exiting that the pc booted as normal. I used it for about 4hrs powered down then went out.

When I came to turn it on again same thing happened, I did some quick testing and it seems to do this 90% of the time when I use the power button on my case but never when I power on directly from my motherboard. I didn't get to test for long as I had to leave but I'm thinking it could be this.

There has been a couple of days in the last few weeks I have come home from work to find my pc on when I knew it had been shut down.

The power button on this case is really sensitive, holding my hand over it can switch it on. Has anyone else heard of this happening? Or have any other ideas about what could cause this issue.

Here is my full spec just in case:

Asrock z97 extreme6
I7 4790k
EVGA G1 750w
16gb hyper x fury
Gigabyte g1 970
512gb mx100

Ps. There is no oc on the build yet, hence why I'm thinking more of a case problem than me having messed with volts or whatnot.

Thanks for any help.

So basically you're a Jedi, turning on the PC without touching it? ;) It is odd I admit. Have you had a look at the connection underneath to see if anything funny is going on there? It certainly sounds like some kind of electrical issue with the button and the wiring under there. Of course, if this is happening with the power supply OFF then run. Run very far indeed.

Thankfully a priest won't be needed as this is only happening with the power on at the wall.

Thanks for the reply, it definitely has something to do with the top wiring of the pc. Not too sure how to go about fixing it tbh.

I have noticed too that I don't even need the power button to turn it on I can do it from the top mesh :/ gonna do a video to make myself more clear.

unplug all the cables that come from the Case and power it on using a screwdriver if there isn't a button on the mobo.

If it works fine screwed in teh case without any cables from the case. then start adding them back on 1 by 1 till you find the cable that is shorting it,

If it doesn't work with none of the cables it's not the case and you'll have to remove it from the case and set it up on a cardboard box and starting with teh bare minimum adding bits until it fails.

I also have an Enthoo Pro and I've experienced it turning on at 5AM in the morning. Was told that it could be something wrong with the case, to overcome this I just make sure to turn off the PSU when I turn off my PC :D

If it's 5AM,all the time it is probably a scheduled task in the windows settings mate, like updates, or virus checks. I've been having the same problem at 5AM every day, I just haven't got round to turning the things what is causing it, in the Scheduler.

Again thanks for the replies, it doesn't seem to be a wiring issue but a lot more simple.

Was starting to take it apart and it looks like the power on switch was just catching the side of the bracket that holds it in place.

Took it out and put it back in and all seems fine now.

Guess I was worrying for nothing. :P

But it was my new child so we always worry.
