Does anyone one own of these and a H100i v2? I just built a pc with these two and it is quite loud. I think most of the noise is from the stock case fans, having 2 in the front and 1 in the rear spinning at whatever rpm. The h100i fans don't seem to spin as much so I am quite certain it isn't them that make all the noise. Has anyone replaced the fans to much success?
 
I replaced the fans on all the Phanteks cases I've had with Apache's but thats just personal choice, how do you have the fans powered ? sounds like they are running flat out.
 
The fans connect to a PWM hub on the rear of the case, where you hide all the cables. This is powered with a connected from PSU.
 
A cable goes from the PWN hub to the cpu fan connector on the mobo. The case fans are connected to the hub, with extra connectors for any extra fans you want to connect. You can then control the speed of all the case fans using either a program like speedfan or the bios.

Did you connect the fan hub to the cpu fan connector on the mobo? If not and you connected the fan hub to the sata power connector than the case fans will run at 100% all of the time.
 
As people above have said the phanteks case fans are PH-F140SP some of the best 140mm fans available so they should be pretty good if you get them under control via the pwn hub.
 
In bios it is all set to PWM but I don't see the fan speeds for all of them, isn't this because it connects to 1 header instead of each fan connecting to a motherboard header? Also, I thought that pwm hub needed to be connected to power, it has a label on that cable to say connect to power.

Okay I disconnected that sata cable as per the instructions it says PWM won't be used if the power cable is connected. Now when I boot my pc for the first second or two the fans are spinning much slower but as soon as the bios splash screen appears it's back to full rpm it seems. I have corsair link installed and that says the fan speed is 900rpm, so that is the fan speed for ALL my fans because the reading for the 2 front, 1 rear and 2 on the radiator are all taking their readings from the one header?

You need to connect both the sata and header to mobo. Then all fans will spin at the same speed if they are the same model fans. If your having problems you may have a dodgy controller as my first one was.
 
The 12V SATA power cable can not be used to power the PWM hub if
connecting to these types of 4-pin connectors, due to the interference
with the RPM regulation by voltage (resulting in the fans running on
full RPM). The PWM hub will draw its power from the 4-pin connector,
which is limited to a total device consuming 30W in total.

Isn't this saying that if I connect the sata 12v then it will override it and run the fans at full speed?
 
Needs both power AND PWM to contorl properly. without sounding rude, it's easier to check this is the case rather than second guessing people offering help if the machine is in front of you.
 
Don't mean to disregard the help I am being given its just a little confusing. The motherboard is an Asus Rog maximus 3 so it had a cpu_fan header and a w_pump header. The pwm hub says to connect to cpu fan header but the h100i v2 also says to connect to that. Should that just connect to the w_pump header as it's 3 pin anyway and corsair link manages pump speed right?

Pwm hub cpu_fan to cpu_fan header
H100i pump to w_pump
H100i fans connect to its own little thing
Case fans to pwm hub
pwm hub sata to psu

Is that all correct?
 
In my case I don't have the hub connected via sata as this will mean the fans will always run at 100%. You need to make sure a fan is connected to the white fan header on the hubas that will be the fan the mobo uses to judge rpm. The hub needs to be connected to a pwn compatible header on your mobo. Not all fan headers are fully pwn compatible.
 
Well I stuck the h100i pump power to the w_pump header
pwm hub cpu_fan cable is on the cpu_fan header
I have a fan on the white pwm connector (think it is the rear one)
The h100i fans are connected to their thing
Case fans are on hub
sata cable is plugged in

I got a cpu_fan warning on boot, went to bios and sat watching the temps and they were still low. It seems that a warning may be thrown up if the cpu fan is not connected to this, which in this case it isn't, the hub is. I ignored that warning in the bios to get to windows. The corsair link software manages the fan and pump speeds. I have ran intelburn test and I can hear the case fans spin up and down and I can change the profile settings of the corsair software and see those speeds change. Speedfan tells me the case fans are at around 1000rpm so all seems okay and it is much quieter.

So your powering a load of fans from a single header on your motherboard? I would have a think why this might be a bad idea.

The point of the controller is to be controlled by the motherboard not powered by it.

So apart from the warning on boot its now working as it should?
 
Ha, very true. Just checked my case and I had connected the sata. Misremembered the Manual as you cannot connect the sata if the pwn connects to a rpm header due to interference

It's a hub not a splitter.

Connect PWM hub to CPU fan header. Connect all other fans and pumps and stuff to PWM hub.

If the PWM hub has external power then connect that also as it will probably fall over under the draw from the pump and fans combined.

This really shouldn't be this complex.
