Hi all, ive just bought an Enthoo Primo and connected my CPU fan to the Hub and then the Hub connector to the CPU Fan header on the motherboard, the BIOS reports my fan speed as 1200RPM so I know the Hub is working or it wouldn't be receiving a speed, now the issue is that speed will never change no matter what I do, I cannot lower it or raise it, its connected to the correct port on the Hub as it would not receive an RPM reading otherwise but it seems like PWM control of my fan/fans isn't working at all, does anyone have any suggestions or help with this please? thank you very much :)

Just because the hub returns fan tach doesn't mean the hub is working or you've configured your motherboard settings correctly. The tach circuit through the fan hub will be a direct short to the fan itself so provided the fan is getting an unbroken voltage above about 4v it'll happily report its fan speed to your motherboard.

I would make sure you are outputting a PWM signal on your motherboard first and not a varied voltage that's pretending to be PWM control as the fan hub will not be designed to work with that. It needs a proper 0v-12v-Tach-5vPWM sort of thing going on and not some 0v-Control-Tach-Vcc.

Ahh that's fair enough then, I have no way of finding out if the hub is actually working or not then I guess, but the motherboard fan control for the CPU Fan header is set to PWM, but there isn't a setting within the motherboard to set a fans RPM, just its PWM Slope and that doesn't actually change anything it seems :( I have a Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H mobo if that's of any help at all :)

Maybe these hubs aren't as good as they pretend to be.

The design is sound enough but maybe it lacks something.

Whenever I built similar devices I always tested them before sending to my customers.
