hi all,

Anyone got one of these? if so do you recommend there paste supplied or can i use say Gelid Solutions GC-Extreme

im getting Noctua NH-D14 and also like to know about thermal,is it worth getting Gelid or just use what comes with Noctua?

Gelid GC-Extreme actually blew my mind. I won't be changing to any other paste until I see proof that anything is better that is non conductive. Way better temps than my MX-2 and so much easier to use. I put a TINY blob of it on my Q6600 and at 3.24GHz 1.4v core its 49c at load on my D-14, used to max at 59 so I am very pleased with the Gelid.

Use the Phanteks thermal paste, it's cheaper.

Fixed. :p

Thank you someone with an answer im using my Gelid then

??

Have you read in detail the link you supplied? When idle temps are 31.25-34.5c and load temps are 83.75-101.25c and not a single ambient temp recorded??? How much did the ambient temp vary during the tests? No idea? Then resulting temps have no base and as such are almost worthless.

This is a good point. The Gelid is still very good paste though, I wouldn't gamble my money trying anything else at the moment because the Gelid does more than I expected.

He already has Gelid, he can do his own tests using the two pastes and see which performs better.

Yeah, I don't know how Gelid and Phanteks TIM compare.

I'm sing the Phanteks supplied TIM with no complaints. Have not heard any complaints from anywhere about it.

How do you get to that conclusion

Erm, I've used them all...

I tested the Gelid GC-Extreme eons ago and the Arctic MX-3 turned out to be better when it was released soon after. Since then I've found the Thermalright Chill Factor 3 to be superior and the Phanteks paste to be better/on par. If you trawl through my reviews, you'll find your answer. Oh and these were under proper testing conditions, not random numbers that aren't comparable.

Fair enough, the top ones are probably all pretty much the same when different ambient temps come into play. Very happy with the Gelid, would have tried any other paste but glad I went with this as cleaning it off and applying it is just so easy.

There's no point buying after market GC-Extreme when the Phanteks paste is great as it is if not better (it is better). OP can always buy it and find out for himself...
