Mate of mine is proabably buying a Prometia Mach 1 2nd hand, and I remeber someone saying something about 3800 X2's being cold bugged, but I don't know what memory controllers are or are not.
His stepping is CDBHE 0534, with the mem controller being RPBW
Can anyone tell me if this is likely to cold bug, and whether it's worth him getting the Mach 1 (fairly cheap too)

Thanks :)

The good thing about the Mach1's, especially if it's unmodded, is that it noramally isn't quite cold enough to hit the 'mildly' coldbugged cpu's. X2's 'can' have a coldbug, but it's unlikely to be a problem at the temps that a Mach1 will hit.

It's always a risk with AMD stuff that you can get a bug except for certain known-good chips, but with the X2's and Mach1 temps you should be quite safe.

The downside is the control system, and if you have a mobo that doesn't like the 'hold-reset' system it uses, you'll need to use a second PSU to activate and run the cooler.

Cheers

As Gray has said the mach probably/Hopefully wont get cold enough to make the cold bug strike.

However X2's do have the bug, CDBHE as far as i can remember didnt. Dont hold me to it as ive gone thro a few on phase now and cant remember if it did. Id suggest serching and you will fine your answer.

EDIT "found a CDBHE stepping on phase @ -60 with no bug"

BH code

El Snorro CABHE -25 cpu temp, no bug so far
Chew* LDBHE -56
Chew* LDBHE -10
Desertshooter LDBHE -32
Absolute 0 CDBHE -20
s7e9h3n AABHE - none
s7e9h3n ADBHE - none
s7e9h3n ADBHE - none

Im sure it will be fine on the Mach, Yippeee.

Always worth getting a Mach 1 to play with - I'll never part with mine - just make sure it has the 939 head on it or that'll add another £60 to the 'cheap' buy ;)
