Anyway will post as I go...in Dahab on holiday at the moment so posting will be sporadic. This week I'm mostly learning my new camera/setup.

It's a lot of fun...enjoy.

6. As much as clown fish are portrayed as fun, nice fish...they are very aggressive! They won't hesitate to standing off against a human/diver!

So this is just after my first day of the photo course, I have another tomorrow and then doing a separate course after that, but I'll be back to shooting on Wednesday

Thanks for the CA tip. What's weird is the processing...seems obvious but its unlike pretty much anything I've done before. Its fun trying new things

Olympus E-PL5

Never did update this, so much has been going on, have been way too damn busy. But ah well! Such as life. Looking forward to 2015. Lots of diving, embracing photography again and traveling to tie in with all of it. Excellent stuff

Anyway, here are a selection of images from when I went to Ireland in November and to Richmond Park at the start of Jan. Also a Wedding in Egypt in September!

First up, the wedding.

It was an amazing wedding to say the least, what was also great is that it was in the same town where my friends were, so just 30 days after coming back from when the photos in the OP were taken, I was back there with my friends. Good times!

Next up, Ireland!

My sister lives in Athlone, which is pretty much bang smack in the middle of the country between Dublin and the coast.

This is the River Shannon running next to a famous area called Clonmacnoise.

Then we headed into Athlone itself.

We also visited the Guinness factory...

I also dived Portroe Quarry, which was great...it felt great to get back in the water again after a long break.

This was shot about 30m down, it was very creepy!

Finally, I went to Richmond Park at the start of January to jump back into Photography with both feet. I hadn't picked up the SLR properly since the Egypt wedding! Far too long a break!

It was like something out of a spooky film, the early morning fog, it was cold...I loved it.

And we found some Deer...

Really like these photos, especially the ones in the park with the deer. My kind of photos. Was it the Olympus you used there? Saw mention of you starting to use a DSLR more but can't see anything about which one on the blog. If it is a DSLR what lens did you use with it?

Edit: Would quite like if in your blog posts you put the details of your camera/lens at the end. I'm learning, or trying to, about photography at the moment and I'm always interested to see what equipment has produced the pictures I'm looking at. Still haven't gone ahead and bought my DSLR.

The Ireland & Underwater photos were taken on my Olympus E-PL5 Mirrorless camera. The rest are all taken on a 5DMkiii

You're welcome! That's a nice camera you've got there. What lens(es) did/do you use?

The Olympus is on the kit 14-42mm lens but I'm looking at getting a 9-18mm lens for it.

For the Canon I have a 35L, 24-70L, Sigma 85mm 1.4, 135L. The Richmond Park shots were taken on my friends lenses, either a 70-200 2.8IS or the 100-400L

Lovely pics mate, for them underwater shots you should really use a fisheye lens. I'll get me coat. lol

Very nice shots Phate, love those underwater ones, but imo you need to apply some highlight reduction in Lightroom as some of the photos, especially those in Ireland, are a little too glaring and could really benefit from the extra detail.

Regarding the wedding photo of the bride and groom at night, did you use an off-camera flash for that one?

And yeah that had an off camera flash, the wind off the beach flared the dress on that exact moment, handy really

I recently got back from a trip to Dahab, Egypt. Lots of diving and laughs as always. I had a crazy amount of fun.

King4aDay very kindly leant me his Olympus 9-18mm f/4.0 lens to go on the E-PL5

It's perfect for what I wanted. Can see me picking one up whilst I wait for the Olympus 7-14mm f/2.8 Pro lens to be released.
