Ive just installed a phenom ii x2 555 on a asus M4A785D-M PRO using stock cooling, had a look in BIOS at the temps, CPU went from 22C and settled at 45C
Ran prime95 for a few hours, the CPU temp went to 54C. Ive not overclocked so Im thinking the temps are about 10C too high at both idle and at load. Is it worth reseating the CPU again, with some thermal paste? When I installed the heatsink, I clamped it down correctly, dunno why the temps seem too high?

If it's not unlocked to quad and at stock it shouldn't really go anywhere close 50c. These chips run extremely cool. Even on stock cooling it shouldn't be more than 45 unless your case has no airflow at all or ur room is super hot.
