15x200MHz at 1.25V in the BIOS on an old school Asus M2N32-SLI.

Haven't installed Windows yet so no idea whether it's a BIOS fault or whether it really is unlocked, but the temp in the BIOS has increased a fair bit.

That is the post Boot "speed". No boards will dynamically change the CPU information screen for non-applied settings.

regardless of intentional unlock, or possibly board/chip combo, it'll convince me to part with cash when they drop in price.

I aint flush enough for the FX series, and this would satisfy the inner geek:D

Jokester,

Have you done any benchmarks? Any OC-ing at all?
I did not buy the "5 GHz" joke:) but was interested in your opinion, after reading your critical comments on the new AMD offering:) (for quite some time).

Cheers.

well its fairly obvious its basing its clock info on settings as opposed to what it reads from the cpu.

all info indicates its multi unlocked down, and there should be a completely unlocked black edition but 9600, it should cost the same as the normal version which is very good, and that "should" be £159, when stores stop screwing us. you can order 9500's at £145, not sure how reliably, and you can get 9500's today for £155, so £170 is a joke, let alone £200. lots of stores still put up their 9700 info, which prices it at about £188, which again is its rrp and again, shows the 9600's have been inflated artificially by someone along the way, distro's or retail stores. considering some places have pre-order at rrp, and some places are selling from stock at £155, its most likely the later.

i think i'm gonna pick one up early december, the UK rma guy for DFI has a board with vista installed as of a few days ago(minimum) and a board out to a review site. stock should hit the uk distro early december and he hopes will be on sale within a week from that date. so hoping end of first week of december to get the dfi 790fx board.

its mostly a dual crossfire board, its got 3 slots, spread out, 3rd slot is lowest down though, not awful but not hugely convinient, but number of people that will use it are in the dozens. don't hugely want to buy a msi board, or a massively overpriced gigabyte board.
