just a quick servey, my mobo doesnt handle phenom, and I want sli, but it looks very expensive to get both. Does anyone here have both sli and phenom working on the same mobo that doesnt cost £100+

I would get an AM2+ mobo for phenom, there have been problems with some of the am2 ones supported via bios update. I would not bother with old N Force 570 / 590 boards.
A new range of AM2+ NVidia chipsets are on the way, designed for phenom. If you must have phenom & SLI, I would wait for these. The midrange one should suit you fine & be well under £100. So far only the non-sli with onboard graphics are out from the new nvidia range.
The SLI ones will be called 780a SLI & 750a SLI respectively, the former being high end (prob over £100) & the latter mid range (prob less than £100)

As the first poster said, wait for the new 7xx series nVIDIA chipsets.

Traditionally, nvidia chipsets proved to be more stable with amd compared with intel.

Yeah if you want SLi with Phenom now then you'll have to research and find an AM2 nVidia chipset board that has a BIOS update for it.

Otherwise it's a case of waiting for 650a/680a.

Nvidia 7xxa chipsets for AMD should be showing them selfs this month i called up OcUK they said near the end of the month possibly for the Asus M3N HT 780a
