Hey.

First of all I wanted to ask if this CPU bottlenecks a GTX 560 Ti, the CPU being at 3.4ghz (Buying a cooler soon and planning to OC)

Furthermore, I wanted to ask what would be the reasonable target to OC from 3.4ghz and what would be ideal load temperatures ?

I cant see that 965 would bottleneck a GTX 560... they're good cpu's

PII 965 should hit 3.8+ easy with volts over say 1.45

Not at all.

Pretty much all 965's will do 3.8, some will do 3.9-4.0.

Though if I were buying now I'd save a few quid and just get the 955BE, which is essentially the same CPU.

Well I jumped 5 fps in cinemark when I moved from 3.2 to 3.7, but I cba messing with the fsb so no 4ghz on this board.

Depends on the chip though. The 955s people seems to get recently were all c3 with a vid of 1.4v, same as the 965, but it is overkill. Mine was stable at 1.32v and did 3.8ghz at 1.35v so try turning your volts down before even attempting an oc, because new chips are quite good :)

4ghz is reasonable though, heck it's practically guaranteed within the same voltage but going higher will probably require water. Oh and 55c is max ideal, 62+ = bad day. Motherboard will try to keep it at~50c if on pwm.

I've never seen a C2 965BE go over 3.8ghz, mine used to but now it'll only do 3.7ghz. The C3 chips tend to clock slightly higher, often getting to 3.9-4.0ghz.

It won't be a bottleneck at all, I have 5830CF on mine and it never goes over about 50% load.

If you want real world increases in FPS form, then overclock the CPU-NB. Upping mine from 2000mhz to 2800mhz gave me a 7fps increase in DiRT2 Benchmark.
