This 9500/9600/9700 is not its relative performance to a 6400+ or the like is it ?

I mean this stuff was all ages ago and related to the Pentium 4 clock speeds which is the reason why we all have dual and quad cores now ?
 
Not in the real world. If you had a program that used the 4 cores very well then maybe! The 6400 is faster than the 9700 as a single core and a lot of apps still only use one of the cores.
