Hi,

i have oc my 940 to 3.7 ghz now on 1.4v, and i have upped my ht link to 2.6 ghz .

What im wondering is will this do anything to my ram as i have never been able to understand any of the ram overclocking stuff.

my ram freqency is 334 mhz at a ratio of 3:5. I dont know if there is any way to get this to run at 1:1 which i assume would be better.

in cpuz it says im running dual which is fine but mode is "unganged", whatever that means.

Hi, its 2x 1 gb pc2 5300 (a-data) and 1x 2gb pc2 6400 (unbranded)

Also got a 1gb ddr2 667 pny stick but its not in, i think it might slow it down if i put it in.
tbh u shouldn't mix ram even more so different speeds. mixing pc2 5300 with pc2 6400 will let the system run at the slowist stick which would be 667mhz.

do u think new faster ram would make a big difference anywhere? Also since i have a 64bit operating system is it worthwhile going to 8 gig or do u see no advantage there?

(i know this is cpu thread :D)

i would say get a new set of ram at least 4gb and i think u will see a diffence..

i seen a differece from 4gb to 8gb, vista is more smoother.

i have 8gb of ocz plat on my m3a79-t deluxe

it works fine but you have to manually change the timings to get it to run at 1066/1067 as phenom2 cpus only support 1x1066 monule per channel. but as i say there are work arounds which take 5 mins to set in bios. you have to run them in unganged mode also which means imputting the ram latencys in twice in a rather messy interface in the m3a79-t bios. its really no biggy though im so used to setting them after my pitiful attempts to oc that i can be in and out of bios in under 3 mins changing all fields bk to my values ;) get the timings from the ocz forums or make sure other brands support 4x2gb of 1066 one way or another before you buy
