Phenom Overclocking!! Dont get to excited

2.7Ghz on total stock volts and what they are describing as a "flakey bios" is pretty good going so far! Like the Core 2 Duo's these chips will live or die by their overclocking performance!

...within the overclocking community (duh!). The other 99% of the market don't give a damn what it does over stock.

your right, your all judging a processor on what us, the TINY miniscule, insignificant part of the market think, want from hardware, the main things for a processor to the other 99% of the market are: price, its gotta be worth it and good value for money, temperature/noise, another important consideration for people want quiet machines, efficiency/performance, only at stock cause 99% of computer uses have no idea you can get free performance from there hardware, and to be honest they don't really care, so judging by these guidelines, phenom still isn't as good value for money as C2D and C2Q cause they give better performance for the cost

AMD seems to have done its homework when the company set the price for its Phenom processors. The Phenom 9600 is about 13.5% slower than Intel's Q6600 in our benchmarks. On the other hand, its price is also 13.6% lower than that of its direct competitor. Thus, the two products offer practically the same performance for your money.

- Toms hardware.

Its only bad value at present because a few major retailers have jacked up the prices to nearly £30 above where they should be per CPU. if you look around you can find the phenom for its proper price at which it is a good value alternative.
