Hey guys, upgrading my cpu and graphics card for gta 5 witcher 3, batman arkham knight etc


I currently have an amd phenom quad core 965 3.40 ghz, 8gb ram, windows 7 64 bit and a 2gb 6950, motherboard is am3

could you spec me a few options, what newer graphics card would fit where a 6950 was, cause they guy said the card just about fitted into the case.

cpu wise I was thinking on this

or would I be better going with an intel i5 or i7, graphics casrd im thinking 290x or a gtx 970, gaming on a 20 inch monitor at 1680 by 1050.

If you could maybe throw me a few options, nothing 2 crazy money wise, maybe around £400 - £500 ? and would it be worth waiting on the 300 series cards ? maybe I could focus on the cpu aspects now and then see the graphics card situation and maybe spend more £££


Thanks for any help, I may also need new power supply and coolers ?
 
What motherboard do you already have?

The 9590 is just an overclocked 8320, so there's not really any point in paying the extra above that. Any kind of overclocked 8xxx series needs a motherboard with a fairly decent VRM and possibly active cooling.
