thats an insanely low vcore...I wonder if these can clock to 3.6-4ghz with some more voltage?

Pictures of AMD Phenom 9600 processor and CPU-Z screen shot. The name of the CPU is Phenom X4 with codename Agena. It is rated 65nm at a core voltage of 0.976v. The processor is labelled Phenom 9600 clocked at 2.3GHz. The CPU is installed on a NF560 chipset mainboard, that is the reason you see the HT is set to 1GHz. It has 512K L2 cache and 2M L3 cache.

So how does it fare when compared with Intel QX series of processors. Read on and you will find out with the preliminary result.

Multimedia
Using Sandra XII Processor Multi-media test, we can see that in processor Multi-media, the results of the 9600 is definitely no match for the high end QX6800 and QX6700. Phenom 9600 scores 87564iit/s in Int X4 test and 115225 fit/s in x4 iSSE2. Of course, when compared to the Core 2 Duo, this processor is definitely much better in multimedia cruching.

Arithemetic

In Processor Arithemetic, we can see that both the QX6700 and QX6800 leads the race. The Phenom X4 scored 35235/29630 in Drystone ALU and Whetstone iSSE3. This score is better than the Athlon X2 6400+ processor.

Jesus, those volts rock! lol

Good numbers for such a low clock, wonder what that pumps out at 3GHz plus? Looking good.

anyone got the same benchies on a q6600 as thats the same clock etc to get a better feel

Have to say those benchmarks don't look all that good to me but maybe I'm reading them wrong. However voltage is nice.

When you consider what it give's away to the others it's doing ******* well i think.

I wanna see some 3ghz benchmarks with Phenom vs C2D at that clockrate, preferrably with RAM at same frequency :)
But no matter what this is good news, AMD is back up there with performance, will get beat by Penryn again but that doesn't matter as it's not loads better clock for clock.
That voltage there is incredible, can't wait to see what kind of speeds that'll allow :)

it's only running at 2.3 so it is hard to extrapolate where it would sit at 3ghz, can it even do 3.4 a Q6600 will do 3.4 so AMD need to match that performance at same or lower volts.

yeah but overclockers aren't the main target, the main target is stock versus stock. Overclockers are still a small percentage.

Would be better if there was a Q6600 up there to compare with just so it'd be a little more relevant, I don't think the results look too bag tbh, look forward to seeing these available and the prices/overclocks.

Personally I'm itching to try one to gauge how 'good' it is in general operations - Quad+Onboard mem controller+L3 cache+HT3 etc etc

Gotta be able to hit 3Ghz+ though for me...

I suspect if they could hit 3GHz they would be selling some at 3GHz, it doesn't make commercial sense to sell their processors at £200-£250 if they could sell some of them at upto £700 if they were able to compete with Intel in terms of performance.
