Phenom2 x6 - Disable two cores?

Hiya,

I was wondering if you think disabling 2 cores on my Phenom2 x6 would benefit in anyway (Making it like a quad core)?

It's a 1055t-

Will it over clock better?
Will the temperature of the chip be slightly cooler?
Will it consume less power?

As I don't use my PC in anyway that requires 6 cores, I'm considering it.

What do you think?...

Cheers :)

It'll certainly make it draw slightly less power, which in turn makes it cooler, which in turn may improve overclocking capabilities somewhat. I won't even guess at what the differences will be, but I know that quite a few people with unlockable dual-cores keep them as dual-cores simply because many games still favour higher clocks over more cores. :)

+1 to the above like some people who run the 920's with out H/T uas it will give them a higher overclock

Probably not. At 3.7Ghz my 1055t (95w) is nowhere near it's thermal threshold. Depends upon clock speed and cooling really I guess

This is with a Tuniq 120 with the fan at lowest rpm, I like silence ;)
