Hi Guys. I'm trying to work out just how good my cooling is, i think something may be a little off with my setup.

could I have the stock temps of your PhenomII 940s please. thats 3ghz with stock volts at idle and load without c'n'q enabled.

Thanks in advance :)

I get 45C idle with a Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro PW (silent mode)

at load i would say i get about 60-65C thats last time i checked.

I tend to get anywhere idle from 47C (summer) right down to 28C (early winter) which depends on my ambient room temps. Readings taken from CoreTemp once it stabilses (always quite high while booting). Haven't seen it go beyond 50C under load yet (stock only), although haven't properly overclocked it yet either.

I use a Thermalright True Black with two 120mm fans. I have them on Asus QFan Silent, but need to change to Performance to overclock - just updated BIOS this morning.

I think I might need a bigger case - my Akasa Eclipse looks a little cramped with the True - airflow?

hmmm cheers for the replies looks like I'm not that far off with my cooling.

stock ghz & vcore idle 45c

stock ghz & vcore load 59c occt 10mins

That's with a Scythe Ninja with 2 120mm 1900rpm fans on it. It is a really hot day mind so they are usually maybe 10c lower than that.

Once I hit 65c ish my cpu becomes unstable. would like to get 1.55v+ through her to see if I can get to around 4ghz. I can do 3.8ghz on a cool day. I think these cpus are a little hotter than they could be :(

I have a Phenom 940 with a Sunbeam core contact cooler fitted with a Xigmatec fan, it idles at 32c and under load gets up to 48c.

amd say the max temp for a 940 is 62'c and 1.5v clicky and my 940be @ 3.5GHz @ 1.4500v idles at about 38'c and loaded (prime95) 53'c using a sunbeam CCF with stock fan for now

Hot day today so these are probally the highest they will ever be.

Phenom II X4 955BE @ 3.2GHz (Stock) - I normally run at 3.6GHz for gaming.

39°C = Idle

48°C - Load (Crysis Benchmark)

Cooler - Thermalright TRUE Black Ultra-120 eXtreme + Yate Loon D12SL-12 1350rpm

Front Chassis Fan - Yate Loon D12SL-12 1350rpm

Exaust Chassis Fan - Yate Loon D12SL-12 1350rpm

has anyone been using water btw? I'm looking at a zalman res1 v2 system.

could anyone comment on weather the lower temps of water keep the cpu stable?

its ironic looked into my stepping and they achieve some of the highest overclocks with ln2 etc (5ghz+) but they seem to do rather badly on air :(
