It has been bugging me, What happened at the end, one minute they are standing on a wasteland, the next it all disappeares and forms some kind of paradise.

Why did she say "I knew we would make it." at the end. Did they make it? by removing their helmets and accepting the planet

The link did not answer the question.
I realise from the original dick short story that the planet they found was actually earth itself, but in the tv it did not address this point, i think that people are making assumptions as the adaption.
But why did she say "I knew we would make it." Where exactly did she think they would make it to, with such certainty, as earth has been reduced too something of a legend or urban myth, i mean the two pilot guys should know their job and they had no idea about earth or where it was, they had to fake the whole thing.
And what kind of moron leaves the safety of a ship, with no oxygen, to trek through a "toxic" planet which looks like something out of a nuclear holocaust. I mean there was no mention of either of the crew members having brain damage or any kind of mental condition. Why would any right minded person do that?

It's best to just accept that all of these episodes (bar Real Life) are crap adaptations.

The Kindle version does not appear to be on Amazon, (I thought these books might even be copyright free, after 50years ??)

... but hadn't previously realised he wrote the man in the high castle too, but that was acknowledged in the OC thread.

Okay, crap adapations aside, why does someone leave the safety of a spaceship and walk off into a nuclear wasteland, knowing they are going to die, with no oxygen. I mean even the dick short story does not address this. I'm finding the whole thing so implausible. I mean if you are going to make a story at least make it slightly believable.
