My mates got a philips 42" plasma and I think the tubes have gone in it. It turns on and works fine but is VERY dark just visible, Its a good 5 yr old.
Is it an easy job replacing the tube or shall i just tell him to sell it as spares and get a new one?

Buy a new tube here.

:D

you have probz reached the end of life of the tv,plasma does degrade of time

probz with ma boob tubes?

Have a read up on the different tv technologies before making an unhelpful comment ;)

OP, plasmas don't have tubes, or boob tubes. If you would want to raplce something then it would be the whole panel which would be more effort and cost than buying a new tv.

Firstly just check the brightness isn't at minimum and try a full reset of the settings to rule that all out.
