Now that my Sony has packed up I'm in the market for a new dvd player. I've read some good things about these 2 players but not sure which one to go for. I think the only difference between the 2 of them is one is 1080p and the other is 1080i. Now, me not being a TV geek I don't have a clue what that means! Can someone tell me in laymans terms what it means?

Thanks :)

Ive got the 5980, works a treat, in fact im watching a xvid on it right now via USB stick, for £60 for the player and £20 for a 4gb usb stick, its a fantastic alternative to buying a HTPC if all you want is divx.

Upscaling to 1080p loooks great, especially on DVD, xvid looks pretty decent too.
