Hi just thought i'd mention about my philips ambx system

Overclockers where going to stock them, there was a post in last novembers news bulletin, but they never surfaced for some reason

Anyway I managed get a system, and its blown me away (literally) :)

Its basically a set of rgb lights, that change color to match what is on screen
this really adds to the immersion and atmosphere factor

Also it comes with a set of variable speed fans, and a vibration rumbler strip that you use as a keyboard wrist rest

The lights work with just about any game, but the fans and rumbler strip need the game to be programmed to use them fully

Some games that have full support for ambx are Crysis, Farcry 2, Brothers in Arms, Quake Wars, plus lots more, they are releasing an SDK this month so hopefully a lot more games will get supported

Im currently playing Crysis again with my ambx system and im loving it

For example you feel every gunshot, explosions you get a blast of air in your face like you can feel the shockwave, and when you run the wind changes speed according to how fast your running, once you play a game with the ambx running, I think it will be hard playing it again without it

anyway take a look at http://www.ambx.com/ (please let me know if link ok)

Theres actually quite a few different sets available

The basic set, which is just the lights is around £90

Then you can buy the addon fans/rumbler for an extra £40

Then theres the Experience kit which is Lights, Rumbler, Fans for about £140

Finally theres the Premium kit which is everything, and also includes a very good 2.1 sound system for about £180

Although it has been mentioned on there forum, that there is going to be a price review soon, and the Premium kit was available on one of those one day only deal sites at the weekend for £89, which was an amazing deal, some of the forum members where purchasing multiple extra units

you can keep adding more units, if you like, and the driver software alows you to place them in 3d, where you have the units located in the real world, so you could have surround lighting if you wanted, fans blowing from behind when someone is creeping up on you etc :)

I paid £140, actually I ordered an experience kIt, but got sent a premium kit :) , It is expensive, but imo was worth every penny

They did have those on ocuk a little while ago in the speakers section, they looked quite interesting. Seem to have been removed now tho, looks like they have discontinued all their 7.1 systems as well.

they look quite cool actually, would be awesome for ambient lighting with tv/music etc :)

but 150quid is a bit D: But for the price review sounds good, 89quid aint bad tbh

dammit why am i tempted! Stupid uni house making me put my z5500's in the living room :P

£89 sounds fair. More than that then it's out of my league I'm afraid. Might try and get one for my next build, whenever that is...

Why don't you post a picture of your setup?

yeah its just one usb, and everything plugs into the control box (wall washer)

If you get the premium kit with the speakers, you need a sound card, for the one 3.5 stereo jack plug, to connect to
