Philips Cordless Phone Ringing Problem

I've just given my old Philips cordless phone to my dad who has 2 other wired phones in his house. It has only now become apparent that there is a problem with the ringer on the Philips phone. When someone calls, the 2 corded phones start ringing, and there's about a 2 second delay before the cordless one starts ringing. When you answer one of the cordless phones, the cordless one keeps on ringing for about 5 seconds after this. Anyone know what is wrong with it and how to fix it?

Problem solved. It seems the phone will play to the end of the ringtone regardless of whether the call has been answered. So if you've answered using one of the corded phones, the Philips will keep on playing until it's reached the end of the tone. How stupid.

i had this on some cordless phones it was fixed by unplugging one of the corded ones
