Philips Gioco, 278C4QHSN (originally thought to be 278G4DH).
Now they have updated the specs.

Original info:
Ambiglow
Zero-flicker 3D
Ultra narrow bezel
No mention of panel type or resolution

". . . Furthermore, IFA 2012 is the perfect platform to launch the world’s first Ambiglow 3D display. The new Philips GIOCO, boasting a big 27-inch screen promises to intensify your gaming experience. This iconic ultra narrow bezel display combines zero-flicker 3D viewing and employs the Philips’ innovative Ambiglow technology which creates an image-matching halo of light on rear wall and visually enlarges the screen that gives you a truly immersive 3D experience."

What it now seems to be (http://www.philips.co.uk/c/pc-monit...ch-68.6-cm-ambiglow-display-278c4qhsn_00/prd/):
Ambiglow
No 3D what-so-ever
Not-so-ultra-narrow bezel
AH-IPS, with 1920x1080

... Yes, I'm a little disappointed atm. The AH-IPS is a nice addition for sure, but the removal of 3D is certainly not. The thicker bezel is a non-issue, I didn't even expect that part to hold up, anyway. Well, there's still some hope left that they actually have two Ambiglow monitors in the pipeline (would also explain two differing model numbers). Don't get me wrong, it's doesn't seem like it's a bad monitor, but it's not so good as what they made it out to be. Remains to be seen what the price will be, too.

But seriously, if Philips promotes it as Ambiglow 3D display, they could at least try to keep the two most prominent features intact !

Sorry, forgot to update here, only posted on the tftcentral forums...

Well anyway, here's the current situation, as I see it:

There is indeed another Gioco line monitor with Ambilight in the pipeline from Philips. First was the 278G4DHSD, and afterwards the 278C4QHSN. The only noticeable difference for now seems to be that the G4 has 3D and USB3.

But they have now removed the 3D model (G4) version from their monitor listings in their homepage, though the direct link still works, and it's still available through the search function. The non-3D (C4) is still listed normally. Quite a few stores have listed both of them as "coming soon", but those that have stated a specific date just keep setting it back all the time.

278G4DHSD:

PS. If you're eyeing for a 27" 3D IPS monitor, there are at least three other alternatives: LG DM2752D, Asus VG27AH and AOC d2757Ph, and all of them are already available. They lack the Ambilight, but the LG has a TV tuner integrated and the Asus has bundled polarized clip-on lenses for those using normal glasses, while the AOC is cheapest and even comes with clip-on lenses.
