Given that the site is not https:// and that they have not used my name, given any card details or quoted an amount that I recognise I assume that this is a phishing attempt.
Has anyone had anything similar?

If you don't recognise it as being you then yes it probably is a phishing attempt.

Might be worth a call to your bank in the morning to make sure though.

No, I haven't anything quite like this before but I mean how often are VISA going to contact you through email for matters as important as that (if it were true of course :p ) If it was really important they would probably actually send you a letter or give you a phone call. It's a fake without doubt.

I get the odd phising emails now and again, mostly from dodgy ebay scammers and the odd couple of banks of which I have no business with.

Whappers.

Yup, I got one exactly the same ;)

Amazing we both spent exactly the same down to the penny :p

It is a pretty good attempt though, all the links go to genuine looking pages, links go on to retailers , halifax etc but that javascript window is rather suspicious.
I wonder how many people are caught by these things.

Lots of people get caught out. Didn't even fool me for a second though, I'm not old enough to have a Visa

Cool :)

Castlecops however are building a massive db of all the spammers and phishing sites and sharing it with the Security community to allow them to improve their apps, so reporting it there is a good plan too.

Okies I'll do that after work as we can't get web based mail services at work.
