I bought one Phobya balancer black nickel in August but I started to assemble my loop only this week, before installing the parts on my computer I tested them outside and the least part I was expecting a leak was from the reservoir, but ofc it is the only problematic part.
The top and bottom ports are ok, but the side ones are not leveled so when you install a fitting it doesn't seal properly and leaks, so what I did, I bought another one to built my loop while I was going to send the defective one back and guess what? The new one came with the same problem.

Here you can see that is not leveled, even the o-ring cannot fill that gap:

I tried to take a picture from it leaking but didn't work that well :p

So now I bought another one, but the black matt model instead of the black nickel, let see if I will have to delay my loop even more.

Had the same reservoir and same issue...one (or both) of the ports is recessed and will not take a compression fitting directly.

Two options:

1. Use a barb.

2. Extend the thread, iirc I used some 45 rotarys

Secret option number 3. Ditch it and buy an ek res.

Worst case just put some tape on the threads or silicone.

I would get another reservoir instead of going this route :)

1- I think a barb would not avoid the problem, as the fitting actually fits on the recessed ports, it just doesn't seal.
Even the stop fitting doesn't seal properly.

2- I tried and I still have the same problem, I even tried to use a spacer that came with my EK blocks, but didn't work either.

3- I will try with with the black matt version first, I'm hopping the problem is because of the nickel plating and the matt version is probably painted, but yes I was thinking about getting an EK or other brand. I need 4 ports on the bottom (in, out, temp sensor and drain)

I prefer to get my parts working than have to adapt them to work, I would go to tape or silicone as last option, probably I would even to sand it level before going to the tape option :)

It's not really an adoption though that's what I'm saying, it's actually "the way", fittings with O-rings on are basically a bodge to help n00bz get into water cooling easier, they never used to have them (many still don't).

PTFE tape has been used in the plumbing game for many decades and is used to seal joints without the need of o-rings.

Sorry if I sound condescending but you do realise that you wrap the ptfe tape around the thread of the fitting. Then screw it in, it cannot be seen and makes a perfect seal.

I just prefer to have what I bought working as intended than having to adapt something to make it work.

I know how PTFE tape works, I have some :D

IMHO o-rings are the PTFE tape's evolution.

Also I received the Matt reservoir today and it is perfect, so I guess the problem with the black nickel is the plating, you can see that the plating is a really thick layer and not really level around the port.
