Phone backup question

To start with, i have a HTC U11. I back up my kids photos every few months, basically this involves copying the stuff from my phone and my mrs phone onto my pc then copying it all back onto both. Normally this works perfectly fine, however on my phone whenever i open the folder on the pc it hangs at 397 pictures (theres over 2,500 in there) although it has no issues opening it on the phone. I've tried my phone on another pc and i get the same result so i'm thinking its the phone, any ideas?
 
Cheers guys, having a look at my phone it's already been backing them up online. I'll look into sharing it with my Mrs, the only issue I see so far is that there's no albums on the Google site which means I'll have to sort through 2,500 photos:mad:.
