Phone cases.. Flip or not flip?

I need a case for my newish phone.
But I cant think if a flip is going to be annoying or not. I've never had a flip case before only the back and sides style.

Its mainly for protecting the screen.

They seem really popular now. Way looking at the Samsung official one as you can still see the screen through a little window for notifications

I would have agreed. Unfortunately my old phone died prematurely and was cracked by a previous drop!

I'm not even clumsy. Just my phone goes on a lot of adventures and I don't want to shell out for another!

Can you ever really put a screen protector on a non new phone without it looking like crap? Because I think it would be better.
 
We have flip cases on ours and they have protected the screens on a few occasions when dropped.

The case style is just a simple, low profile case with a lock screen window. It's the "official" case for the phone. I'd not go for any Amazon specials though. They always seem to be bad news.

I just flip the cover round the back when I need to use the phone. Real easy. Its not one of those thick PU leather things with cards and receipts sticking out in every direction though as I agree they give off a particular OAP energy.
 
I always used decent flip cases but my last phone (motog9) came with a normal type case that just covers the back of the phone...realised how much better they are and stuck with it, still protects from falls unless you're unlucky enough for it to fall screen first on a pointy thing!
 
I've got a Spigen Thin Fit Case on my a52s, it's basically a case cover with a mix of hard and soft plastic/rubber which has a tiny lip on the front so if it's goes face down it does have a tiny amount of protection in theory.

I normally keep my phone in my trouser/jeans side pocket with the screen facing my thigh. Phone back is plastic, along with the case, and my thigh padding any impacts seems to work fine for me, I didn't even use a case on my last phone and that lasted years doing the same thing.
