Hi folks,

Looking to ditch my mums whatever-it-is-Chinesium phone for something newer (shes had it for like 10 years, was probs fine when new).

I saw a Currys deal for the A55 Samsung - £280. This doesn't seem too bad.

Can anyone recommend anything better value for money? I think the bigger the screen the better; a good camera is a bonus.

She has a Vodafone SIM only deal but I can only see garbage 3yr phone plans with 2 year contracts on there.

I want to know what current phone she has so I can judge what kind of son you are.

The pixel 8 will give you a smaller size, but for a non-power user I don't think there's anything that would jump out immediately as being better.

If your mum is anything like my parents, I'd say no.

Think my dad has the a54 (or the previous version; a53?); I have the Pixel 8.

Pixel sounds like a great shout, but I know my mum and grandparents like a larger phone now, to make text more visible - if that’s the case for your mum, she may prefer the A55.

I ended up with the a55. Cheers all. This'll make it slightly less painful when she visits and asks me to clear off all the bloatware and review her scam texts lol.
