Was in CPWH just now and was talking to a guy in there about one, and he said he's about to take one up. It's alright for him if he's working there but just wondered if anyone had done one of these and if they'd encountered any problems? Is there any small print to be wary of?

Work out the total "value" of the contract.

E.g. value of phone, value of the included monthly minutes/texts, value of the "free" gift.

Work out how much that's worth and compare to the monthly cost of the contract x the months you'll be on it for.

Then compare to a standard network contract with a free phone but paying for a PS3 etc yourself... might want to check out quidco to see if you can get some cashback too (think the standard is about £50 for a new contract these days... quidco takes a few months to credit you though)

Agree'd you need to work out the total cost overall as it might not be worth it. However if you cant afford to splash out on the full cost of a PS3 at once this may be good for you?

I got myself a similar deal a couple of weeks ago. Usually this isn't the kind of thing I go for, but I've got the following:-

Free Samsung F210 (will sell on ebay, happy with current phone)
600 minutes/unlimited texts each month
Sony PS3 40GB
£25 per month for 24 months.

Total cost of the contract is £600 - the value of the phone is about £80 or so I think, and the PS3 because it's the 40GB version is probably worth about £230 or so. Using those numbers it basically works out that I've got 600 minutes and unlimited texts for about £12 a month, which is something i'm happy with.

I have to send off my first bill to claim my PS3, so I'll let you know how that goes.

OK, the contract is £35 lasting 18 months, giving a total cost of £630. Standard £35 a month o2 tariff of 600 mins and unlimited texts and free Nokia 6300, perfect for me.
Included is an 80gb PS3 with singstar which is roughly £300, maybe £320. The Nokia 6300 goes for roughly £60. Total freebies is £380 then.
Subtract that off £630 gives £250. Divide £250 by 18 months, gives £13.90 a month.

Yup I'm happy with that :)
