Phone functions open after call on iPhone 3G

I've had a search for this but couldn't find anything on this.

You'll have to bear with me on this one as I'm finding it quite hard to explain!

If you picture the series of events:

1) My iPhone is currently locked without the "Phone" functions (Favorites, Recents, Contacts, Keypad or Voicemail) showing. Also no other applications are open.

2) Someone calls me, I take the call and they hang up thus locking my iPhone automatically.

Now, when I wake up the phone and enter my pin, the "Phone" functions are open, most commonly showing my recent call history. Is this common? Is there an option to turn this off, as I would like the phone to be in the state I left it before locking after I receive a phone call. If I'm not making sense, just let me know but as I said, this is a hard one to explain!

Many thanks in advance,

James

I think, but i'm not certain, that it does it in case you lose the connection. Therefore it's dead easy to call the person back right away.
