Currently have a 2019 Ford Focus Estate and could do with a phone holder to fit a Samsung A54

Have had manufactured fitted ones in the past and currently have a Brodit Clip in a my other car (Mini)

Its ok but prevents u from using the air vents or end up cooking your phone.

Focus Brodit clip fits in the air vent also so no thanks

Don't want a windscreen fitted one either.

Anyone have a good phone holder?

Short of getting one that sticks to the top of your dash, I'd just take the hit and get a simple windscreen jobbie.

I use a Spigen Stealth and have done for at least 5 years. Can't remember who posted it on here, think it might have been @mrk.

It has a sticky pad which sticks to any dash and is removable so you can chuck it in the cubby when not in use. It also works in any car that has a dash, no messing about with vents. Give the sticky pad a clean now and then and you're good to go.

The only issue with it (which is a very minor issue tbf) is that it when putting your phone in it, it'll often press buttons locking the screen or changing volume. Very small issue though.

I don't see any in stock on Amazon but there might be a newer model or something.

can't you get a vent mount that locates phone outside of line of vent ? eg https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BVFSF57H

currently looking for one myself since even with car play the car player app versions for the media players I'm using are cut down without access to basic functions ..
like jumping through a ripped album not broken into tracks.

Brodit seem to want to sell holders dedicated to a particular phone (with aligned plug) I just want one that is general purpose for any size of phone and I'll just plug it in by hand

None of the vent ones are good for long term use, especially with today's heavy phones it all starts creaking and rattling in no time.
I'm a big fan of brodit - yes you lose a vent but stick a magsafe magnet on top of it and nothing looks tidier.
I have an android phone with a magsafe case, they do exist!

Second this. Have used Spigen Stealth for 8+ years. It even holds the Garmin without any issue. Never had any problems with it, also does not intrude with my vision ahead.

Not sure how similar the interior is, but my wife has a 19 plate fiesta and just has her phone in the little cubby hole Infront of the gearstick. As she used android auto, she doesn't need her phone in her line of sight (and potentially risk it falling out of those mounts).

as suggested - The Spigen one doesn't seem to be available any more , pity it doesn't do portrait, too,
at least for music player apps, on apple they can't use the horizontal space, and, can't tile apps AFAIK.

There seem to be knock off versions on ebay if I search with "Spigen Stealth". Worth a try maybe.

bought a syncwire one eventually https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0CP4VBGX1 ... stick on, as nicely built as tom tom ...
just deciding where to put it adjacent to dash display, or replacing temporary Tomtom DIY fit from old car - votes ?

e: can tell how good the adhesive will be on syncwire, if I want to subsequently move it ... tomtom had about 3cm2 of 3M tape and was very hard to remove from windscreen,
this has about 10cm2

Recently upgraded my phone (Pixel 9 Pro XL) and bought a case with Magsafe, thinking it would work with my old Spigen vent mount (the small magnetic version) in my 2023 S-Max (same vent style as your Focus, iirc).
It didn't.

Bought the following and it works perfectly. Really secure (and no more pulling the mount off when I remove the phone):

Do you think a non magsafe phone with a magsafe case would be strong enough to stay attached to this mount? I generally use Android Auto with my Focus 2018 but occasionally I would like to be able to see the phone screen too!

The Pixel isn't Magsafe - just the case (I have this one). It works perfectly.

if you were to use wireless charging with such a Magsafe case isn't it's efficieny reduced ? (with cases in general don't you reduce the cooling on the phone too as it runs CP/AA )

I only use a wireless charger on my bedside table and have the battery management set to only fully charge the battery right before my alarm goes off (0600 term-time). Can't say I've noticed any issues with the case, but I'm far too clumsy to try it without.

I don't use wireless charging in the car as Android Auto only works when plugged in (2023 S-Max).

I'm surprised Android Auto is only wired on the 2023 S-Max when it supports wireless on the MK4 (late 2018 onwards?) Focus! I use the AA wireless adaptor with mine. Having music and Waze just work when I get in the car is great! I'll never be able to form the habit of plugging in every time! I only ever plug in when on a long trip. Phone gets toasty enough charging while connected to wireless AA, I couldn't imagine how warm it would get if wirelessly charging too!

Focus MK3.5 has nowhere visible to stow a phone either, which is why I'm asking about the above mount :)

The Pixel isn't Magsafe - just the case (I have this one). It works perfectly.

Nice to know! Thanks :D Wonder if they do a version with charging...
