Phone line problems again, yay slow internet :D

About two/three month ago, my internet was enjoying the fastest speeds it had ever seen (around 24mbps down, ~4mbps up, usually ~21mbps down, 3-3.5mbps up). About a week after that happened, the speed plummeted to around 7-8mbps down and 1mbps up, with a dodgy phone line needing repair. Apparently it was a corroded cable, just about making contact.

Now, last week I was back to around 24mbps down and 5mbps up. Yay I thought, until around Friday/Sat when speeds dropped harshly again, currently at ~9down and 1.5up which isn't too bad as I had to put up with 5mbps on adsl!

So yep, phone line is even worse now, can't take calls or call out. It just rings on for the other people, even though we've picked up and what we hear is like 3 distorted beeps, pause and then this repeats. I called a couple hours ago and the phone didn't even ring lol. There is a lot of noise. BT will be being called tomorrow and usually they are quite quick at fixing these problems in the past, within 1/2 days so that's pretty good.

I'm not actually bothered about the current slow speed(I'm worried about it cutting off completely though lol :D), I just find it surprising that the speed goes up quite a lot before these things happen, coincidence?

Yes.

Report it as a voice/line fault, don't mention broadband, get it fixed.

Then wait a while for DLM to get the broadband back to normal. Unfortunately a voice/line fault won't involve the people you need to get an immediate reset.

I mean, that the phone line goes faulty right after a nice increase in speed lol

I know not to mention broadband as fix the phone line will fix the internets :)

Last time after fixing the line, it went back to ~20/21mbps but it took a couple months before finally being back to being unlaggy. (using at full speed would tank pings for some reason :()

Line goes faulty, DLM reduces connection speed.

Line gets fixed, DLM gradually increases connection speed (much slower to go back up than to go down).

Line goes faulty again, DLM reduces connection speed.

No mystery, just **** wiring.
