Hi Everyone hopefully this makes sense to someone, having real problems with a BT Broadband line speed.

Do you know what wires in telephone socket need to go into what number. Weve got a red , green , white and blue wire and numbers 1 -6 inside the case, at the minute only green and white go into a number green 4 and white 5,

Could this be to a reason for a slow internet speed and do you know which 2 numbers the blue and red cable should go into if any.

Cheers
Adam

Hmm guessing you're on about the master socket as opposed to a single extension socket?

If it's just a standard BT style socket the only two wires you need are white of blue n blue on 2 and 5.. sounds a bit suspect to me..

its not suspect at all, i have very little knowledge in wiring telephone sockets and am not sure of what needs to go in where, ill try putting the blue into 2 and see what that does.

If you're on about the master socket.. I wouldn't touch it. Not sure what BT legal owns but I believe it's upto and including the master socket, so I wouldn't start changing wires.

its just an extension socket that im trying to wire, just not sure where all the cables inside it go

Ok if it's an extension socket.. go to socket that the extension one is coming from, undo the faceplate and see what colours are going to what numbers..

There should be 2 wires that you need 2 and 5 colour doesn't really matter as long as both ends are the same it should work..

Not sure why 4 would be used as I thought that was todo with earthing for PABX?

its okay mate we got it done in the done and everything is working quicker than b4, we think it was down to the copper not touching properly on the extension, we have resealed this and the connection is 13 times as fast now. Cheers for the help
