Just moved into a brand new house that was finished being built last month, got my phone line connected 2 week ago and it randomly stopped working sometime last week. I can't test my phone in the test socket because i don't have one! My house has an external NTE. I phoned sky and they did 5 tests and they reckon they all passed. They said i may have to get an engineer out which costs £99 callout charge then £60 an hour after that.

Any ideas what the problem could be or what i could try doing? Thanks

The charges will only apply if it's a fault inside the house. You didn't listen to the statement the advisor read out to you and onlu heard the charges.

Disconnect EVERYTHING from the line, phones, extensions, everything. Get an old fashioned corded phone (BUY one if you have to, less than £5 for a new basic one) and plug that in. Do you have a dial tone? if not I don't think you've got anything to worry about.

I did listen and i do know i only pay for the charges if the problem is on my end. Ive tried 2 different phones and they both didn't have a dial tone.
