SO my Alcatel OneTouch Evo7 is refusing point blank to use my Iphone 4 Hotspot connection to do any web related activities (Connects, gets IP, doesn't do anything there after). I have a Huawei E5220 3G dongle with a 1GB/m data limit, I also have an unlimited data plan on my Iphone SIM.

Is there anything to stop me buying a microsim adapter and using my phone sim in the dongle?

Also any info on why the tabled won't connect is also welcome.

Check to see if it's DNS related. Put an IP address into the browser on your tablet rather than a web address and see if that works.

An easy way to find IP addresses is to go into the command line on your PC, ping a website and it will return an IP (in most cases).

I get the impression Three are usually quick to clamp down on non-phone usage of a phone SIM

Yes they even block tablet use - an ex colleague of mine bought a Three SIM for his Nexus 7 and it only lasted a few days before them cutting it off for not being a 'Smartphone'.

I tried applying a custom DNS server to the IP settings the tablet gets from the Iphone (my ISP's DNS, Google DNS and a few others) with no luck. The tablet says it is connected, even gets DHCP assigned IP but simply will not browse the internet.

Given the lack of any sort of troubleshooting tools I can't track the problem down.
