Morning all.

My son is complaining that his phone, an ancient Motorola is not lasting a day in battery, so I am thinking of giving him my Poco X3 Pro and getting myself a newer phone. I was wondering about the Poco M5s which I get for £134. Is there anything better in the sub £200 price range. My needs are pretty basic, NFC and a good battery are probably what I need most as I use Waze quite a bit which seems to use the battery a fair bit.

Many thanks

Darren

My daughter also complains her phone doesn't last a full day... Not sure what she's expects when she games on it for 2 hours and scrolls TikTok for 6
Yes, I had a similar conversation with my son but the phone is old. It was previously his Mother's but we upgraded her and put it in a drawer as she was complaining about the battery so whilst I would like him to use the damn thing less it is on its last legs.

Did you upgrade? I'm thinking of doing the same with my x3 pro, but I want to get away from miui for a change.
Had quite a bit of change in heart. After looking at a number of phones and none really hitting the spot I went down the route of increasing budget and moving to IOS. However I cannot tell you yet what I think about it as I ballsed up. As posted on another thread:

'Well.........I ballsed up massively.
Decided on an iphone 15 looked at various places to buy it online and was hoping I could get next day delivery, found it on ASDA mobile, next day delivery. Great I thought, I'm working from home tomorrow so all is good, get it ordered and I will be home all day for it to be delivered. Next day I wait impatiently like a kid on Christmas eve. Friendly parcelforce man delivered it about 14:00. Unwrap in my man cave, and as I start to open it up I notice the word 'Plus'. Have they sent me a iphone 15 plus by mistake, no it's a 14 plus. WTF is going on. Check my email and this idiot has somehow managed to order the wrong phone.
So yesterday, my friendly parcelforce man came back and collected it.
I only have myself to blame.'

I am still fighting with ASDA Mobile to get my refund, 12 days after they received the handset back. They are utterly incompetent and I would not buy from them again.

Frustrating! I usually end up getting my phones at amazon with prime as returns are usually easy, or atleast have been over the years. Or direct with manufacturer. Can't see me going apple when everyone else in house is android and its all I've ever had. Saying that we do use an appletv4k so..

As far as poco x3 pro goes, I really dont like Miui anymore, gets worse with every update. There's not an obvious similar budget option though and it feels like I'd be making a mistake passing it on to a 10 year old for an "upgrade"! Its a decent phone, just tired of the bloatware and Xiaomi android.

If you dont like MIUI you can always try a different rom. https://xdaforums.com/f/xiaomi-poco-x3-pro.12163/ I really like ArrowOS and am basing my new phone on wether or not I can get ArrowOS on it.

Good idea. I used to do this years ago but haven't tried custom for a long time. Might be tempted. One thing in particular is my irritation with android auto getting worse, less responsive and now gps lagging. Thing is that could just be the google app in general and not Miui's fault.
