Man of Honour
A rare photo from 1904 has been sold at auction for a record $2.9m (£1.6m) by Sotherby's New York. The previous record price for a photo was set last year at $1,248,000.
The photo sold yesterday was a rare copy of Edward Steichen's "The Pond-Moonlight". Steinchen was a pioneer in photography and was the first to experiment with autochrome to produce coloured pictures.
"The Pond-Moonlight" was taken on Long Island, New York. Its new owner hasn't been named.
