Photo drawing software

Hi people,

Is there any half decent software out there that will allow me to draw on jpeg's?
I need something thats a bit better than paint!

What I need to do is just draw some half decent arrows and add some text to a photo from a lab experiment i've done for my dissertation.

Have a look at these:

GIMP is more targeted towards the professional end so you might be better off with Paint.NET.
