Photo editing PC Build - £1200(ish) - Help

Hi,

I'm wanting to build a desktop PC that is suited to photo editing.

I've done a rough build list, but was wondering if people had any opinions on what I should get? I did also read that Nvidia Quadro graphics might be better for my needs.

Also, is it going to be worth me waiting until Skylake?

I have £1200 to spend but could stretch to £1400 if needed.

Yeah might as well wait for Skylake, you can get the latest tech then even though there won't be much improvement.

Also no need for a workstation card, something like the GTX 760 will be more than enough.

Is the quad core 4790k generally considered better for what I want over say a 6 core i5820k? (Bear in mind I'm not adverse to a bit of overclocking)

Do we have any idea when Skylake will be released for the kind of processor I need? Seems early processors will be mainly quadcore

I've got a spare Samsung PM851 lying around, from a Lenovo laptop. Seems daft not to make use of it, unless Evos are that much better?

August 5th is the release date mate, so not too far away.

Yeah might as well make use of that SSD, will save you a fair bit of dollop!

6 core will be better at Photoshop because it does use all the cores thrown at it. So since you have an SSD already you can easily fit in the 6core 5820k to your budget
