I've just got myself a Canon 400D for christmas and I'm having lots of fun. A steep learning curve from my old point and shoot digital camera!

Now I've already started messing around with HDR and editing techniques with the demo version of Photmatix and gimp, but I'm after some decent software to help with my digital editing. Where is the best place to go for manipulation software and what do I need?

Thanks in advance :)

Found that on Amazon, but its over £500. Any other options out there? or should I plug away with gimp and register photomatix

I'd personally try not to be tempted by HDR and Photomatix. These things can come later. Not to patronise (i'm not in much of a position to :p), but there are other photographic and processing skills you should learn and have embedded in you before you want to start playing with HDR. Walk before you run, and all that. :)

You could look at Photoshop Elements, i understand its a lot cheaper than the full version of Photoshop but carries a lot of the features.
