Photo editing software?

Can anyone reccomend me some simple, image editing software, preferably free?

It's just for fixing photos taken from a mobile phone, so I just need to be able to change the brightness and contrast, sharpness, lighting, de-noise, and remove bright spots caused by windows etc when taking a picture indoors.

I think Google Picassa lets you do this. Very good photo viewer too!

Are you running Vista? If so windows preview is a neat little tool which will do what you stated.

Or maybe something like Gimp?
