Hi
My son thinks you guys are the bees knees when it comes to advice so can you help me?
I presently have a Mesh with Q6600 2.4 ghz, 4GB DDR2 667 Mhz ram,Nvidia Geforce 2 duo/quad MATX mobo, 500gb serial ATA. My son is donating his GTX 260 maxcore 65 graphics card to the cause. I need to be able to process my digital images, which work out at about 25mb each (from 18gb DSLR), faster than the current setup which allows me to make lots of tea!

I am looking at the Xenon Intel Core i5 2500K 3.30GHz Bundle - Quad Core at about £300. Would this be a good set up or can you suggest something better/cheaper?

Thanks in anticipation
Phil

To be honest, that's not a bad bundle, and will probably do you fine!

Ideally you'd be looking at a bottom of the range motherboard, an i7 2600k and as much RAM as you can afford, maybe with a SSD thrown into render off of...

Saying that, that's a lot of money, and not really necessary.

If you built it (or your son) yourself, you might be able to get something better for less, probably wouldn't be seeing much improvement, but might be able to get another 4GB of RAM or something with a slightly worse but capable motherboard

Hi, one other question. I presume that I would also need to upgrade my PSU to help power this lot and the graphics card. What would be the best option?
