hi all, my trusty Canon ip3300 is on its last legs and im in need of a replacement. Im looking for a printer that can give quality results for photos and also documents/text. It would be great if you could share your advice and experience, my budget is up to £200.

just an update on the ix6550. It will print up to a3+ and i have found it to be easy to use. The prints it produces are the best ive seen from a home printer very detailed and rich colours. I bought some Canon Platinum a3+ paper and i am well happy with the results. Heres the first 2 on my wall for reference

they look good, would like to see more results.
how much is the paper? price for ink? price for print?

have been looking for a printer for a while now

Glad to see this, nice to read a good review of a printer. Can you keep us updated as you go? It's nice to see the longevity and running costs! Thanks

The Platinum paper works out around £2 per a3+ sheet which is pricey but worth it as the images seem to be back lit when printed on it. The printer takes 5 ink cartridges and I found the best deal at £42 for a set of genuine canon inks . I'm not sure of the per print cost as I've only done 5 a3+ prints so far and the levels are still showing full apart from the cian at 3/4.

you know the pictures aren't the same hight don't you?

Only kidding, prints look good.

:-) that will be the vodka m8

Cheers Appleby, my last printer worked very well but after 4 years it started to leave marks on printed pages even after cleaning. My wife makes wedding invitations so this was not acceptable. The epsons look good but Ihave canon gear and found a great deal on this.

considering what it cost for printer + ink + paper thats good value imo, me thinks i might put one of these printers on my wish list! and buy a basic b&w printer for office stuff
