Hey all

Would like to get a few of my pictures printed, looking for recommendations of how/where to do so?

Quality of the print is key for me as I will pop some on the wall (probably unframed) I wont be blowing them up to big (probably a4 size or slighter smaller) not sure what that would translate naturally into size wise? Have been shooting at 3:2.

You're probay looking for an 18x12 print then, slightly longer than A4 but a standard size.

Print wise the print space is still the best I've tried, but relatively expensive.

If you're aiming for not framing some then it's probably worth getting those printed on foam board, although there are other options, like aluminium sheets or acrylic.

Is the print spaces information on it. Loxley are also another good option.

Thanks had a look at them but couldnt see the size you said unles I am being blind?

It's not on that price list but if you upload a photo you can select the size. It'll be a bit more than the 16x12. Their system will allow you to order any size you want. I've printed a couple of dozen 18x12 prints with them.

When I say "standard size" it's worth pointing out that 3:2 is not considered a standard ratio (oddly) so as much as 18x12 is a standard size for 3:2 if you want a frame you'll be looking at going custom.

If you do want to just pick up a frame or mount from hobbycraft/IKEA etc then you'll probably want to aim for something like 16x12 instead as the 3:4 ratio is far more commonly available off the shelf.

Always a pain dealing with aspect rations between camera, printing and framing. Since 3:2 is not standard for frames you can think about going for something wider for a landscape like 2:1 etc. I don't like my landscapes at 3:4.
When editing a photo in LR I someitmes simply select a 16:9 ratio to help framing. This is halfway between the 3: from the camera and a nice :1 for landscape prints, plus of course for online viewing works very well.

Those frame ratios are a pain to get too, which is why I usually just get custom frames made up if I'm framing. Most of my prints are either 1x1, 2x1, 3x2 and occasionally 3x1.

I wasn't really clear in my post. I meant I will use a 16:9 framing as a default for many photos since they will be viewed digitally. IF I want something printed I normally go back to LR and take a bit more care in processing and then I will select a different Aspect ratio, often 2:1. As you say, since you cant easily buy a 4:3 frame you will have to buy a custom frame anyway so you might as well pick a AR that work well for a photo, 2:1 (or there about, 2.39:1 is the movie widescreen standard) works well for landscapes. The 16:9 helps you view what a 2:1 would look like without cropping too far form the 3:2 (or if you did want to print at 3:2 it is also close).
