Photo restoration help please.

The wifes mother passed away, and ive been asked to print some photos for the funeral. Can anyone help with fixing these 2 pics please.

I wouldn't touch either of them, this is how photo's of that era are supposed to look a little beaten and battered but loved and cherrished.

If you do do anything, the first is beyond help and the second could have the cracks cloned and a little lifting around the eyes but not much more.

There is nothing you can do with it unfortunately and I suspect that has been the case since it was taken but for me that adds to it, you can still see the happiness of the moment that is captured.

I recently scanned all my wifes families old pictures (took an age!) and the one everyone likes the most is a terrible shot off the end of a roll that isn'r well focused composed or anything else but it captures the joy of her grandfather in his youth perfectly and reminds everyone of the happy smiling carefree him that is so often forgotten whe people grow old and slow down.
 
A digital artist could attempt to reconstruct the 1st one but it would be expensive. I would print it off at a small size to make it look better.
