Hey all, it's quite likely I'll be photographing an extremely famous person soon and need some advice on making sure I don't kick myself in a years time with not having my terms and conditions or model release form correct.

I'm wondering where I stand on using the image, perhaps making prints etc if the client is happy for that to happen, as well as where they stand on using the image. I'd rather the persons office doesn't feel they can just send the photo out to any newspaper or magazine and receive payment for it etc.

Does anyone have any advice for dealing with this sort of thing? I want to make sure I take the proper route and everyone is happy.

If you're talking about like at a runway, red carpet or whatever, then I doubt their agency has any need to get your images, plenty will offer them for free. If you're talking about actually having a photoshoot with them, then frankly I reckon they'll expect you to be handing over pretty much all rights to them simply because they're a massive name, and you're not - for everybody who has a problem with the agency owning the images, there are a thousand more photographers desperate to have that face in their portfolio.

Without more information that's all I can say.

It's a private portrait and has come about as the chap is visiting an event based around him that we're photographing so he's having a portrait done by us also. Press etc will also be there in the press pit but we have access to the entire event as the 'official photographers' hired by his people.

It's been a bit of a last minute thing, we have sent our terms and conditions over and they seem happy but they haven't sent us anything as yet.

Personally I hate when people don't say who it is, but I didn't want to say until the event was done. It was actually Prince Charles but the portrait itself didn't go ahead, although we got plenty of normal photos. :P
