Apart from OCUK, where do people get their photography news and join in conversations in forums at?

Talk Photography for me as well. Did look at POTN as well but as said its much more american thank TP

I use google :D

I do read talk photography but rarely go outside the gear forum, other than the lighting sections as that interests me. Otherwise I'll just google for an answer to a query I have.

Another one for Talk Photography, but they can get a little "grumpy" with new people over there.

I feel it's gone down hill a lot since I joined when it had a really welcoming friendly feel. These days it feels really cliquey with the same posters having the same boring circular arguments and some frequent harsh treatment of newbies.

Yep very true. I only use TP now to view photo's and stay well away from the discussion threads.

I also use Avforums that also has a nice, friendly and very helpful little community that also a good photo sharing section and a monthly comp.

Might check out AV Forums only ever really looked at the hi fi stuff over there.

Remember posting on there once a fair while back, someone suggested I bought myself a serious camera when I mentioned I had a Pentax and I never went back. I tend to spend my time over at pentaxforums as most forums tend to be dismissive over anything that isn't Canon or Nikon now.
Funny how silly thing create a permanent impression that never goes away..

I have a soft spot for TP as I learned everything about digital when I returned to the hobby a few years back.
However I've got so many people on my ignore list that its difficult to follow some threads there now. I really should man up and take the idiots off the list or stop lurking there.

I've got nearly a couple of thousand posts there so I have been quite active, but many threads consist of the professionals bitching amongst themselves or barrack room lawyers having endless circular arguments which end up with the ban hammer being wielded.

A lot of the pros treat the rest of us like something stuck to the soles of their shoes.
The classified section is good though, I've bought virtually all my kit there with no problems.
