hello. first of all thanks for anyhelp which people can give^^.

im a photographer.photoshop and massive amounts of data are what i mainly deal with but i am a avid gamer, wow in my spare time. i am not very clear on what system would be best suited. ive heard lots of different things looking at these forums.
do i need a huge graphics card?
whats best storage situation ive heard about raid and so on but am unsure. i apologise for my basic knowledge in computers^^
which build would be best? whether custom or store bought. i have around 1500 pound ^^

cheers guys and gals^^

Will you require monitor, keyboard and mouse :), also will you need large storage space.

With £1500 you should be able to make a monster... *jealous* I use lightroom a lot, and it eats RAM and processor cores. The more cores, the more things you can set it doing at once, I read somewhere a recommendation for 2gb per core, so 8Gb and a Quad would be a good start.

If you're looking for monitors and are serious about the photography, be very discerning and try and find examples of people who've calibrated the monitors you're looking at. I went with an Eizo S2411w in the end, bit of a compromise of cost vs quality, but it's been fantastic so far and is perfect for games, so don't get caught up on responsetimes when it comes to displays, any monitor made in the last 2 years will be fine, focus on the blacklevels and the colour accuracy.

Couple of big sata's raided for security at least 16mb cache, as much ram as you can afford (photoshop doesn't really care how fast it is), a multi core processor and a budget graphics card (PS is 2D not 3D so it doesn't really matter, but initial drawing is shown to be marginally faster, and I mean marginally with DDR3 and above, you wouldn't notice though), a £50 card would be fine.

Sorry not to be exact, but I would need to know your budget, whether you require system silence, firewire, SFF, multiple monitor output etc.

Sorry, my bad, I can see you have £1500.

Will you be wishing to do anything else with it, a 4 head Matrox graphics card may be great for 4 pro monitors but it's bum gravy with a game.
