I have just completed my C&G L1 last week, only to be told that Essex CC will no longer be funding and providing L2 and L3 which has left me in a bit of lurch, shocked and very disappointed to be honest.

After speaking to C&G, no there are no other providers in the area that offer part time evening course. Looking at alternatives, found this online yesterday

http://www.institute-of-photography.com/how-to-choose/

I wondered if anyone has heard of them, or think it's worth while.

Thanks

I don't think they offer much other thana bit of paper that means only something to you.

Depending on your level of effort and funding you might want to look at the OCA http://www.oca-uk.com/subjects/photography.html

Study toward a full degree if you want, or just do bits and get credits.

I'll be signing up for the first course in the next few weeks. Huge step for me as there is a lot of analysis and writing involved and while I can write reams, I've never done it at degree level and wasn't great at A level.

I did the IoP course as it was purchased for me as a gift. It's basically split into modules focussing on different areas, the modules are all slide shows that you sit and read through and then you have to answer multiple choice questions to pass the module which can be repeated as often as you like.

Some of them ask you to send in images to show your work, and the final module does in order to pass the course but you can get through it really quickly if you wanted to just sit there and read it.

I read on their forums of people who just skipped through the slides, answered all the questions and that was that.

Depending one what standard you're at and what work you're thinking of, CreativeLive stuff might be a better use of your time and money
