i've had a look at some useful sites in the sticky in the photography forum but thought i'd ask in here.
I'm looking into creating a photo website but i have little to no website design experience (basic html) although i have downloaded a few free template designs but not fully understood incorporating css etc etc
what i'm really asking is what is the easiest way to get a personal photo website which can incorporate to a degree, a mini blog, comments page / guestbook along with photo galleries with the minimal amount of knowledge?

For personal use?

I'd have thought Flickr would suffice.

To support a business, Wordpress may well be your best bet, yeah. Plenty of photo gallery type templates, and they tend to be easy installs.

I'm not overly taken by Flickr, will take a look into wordpress tonight though, thanks. Any other thoughts on other sites with a WYSIWYG input method?

Ok, had a bit of a rethink about this website malarky.

Looked into a few things...

1. domain name

2. web host

3. site templates

1 and 2 can be obtained from say Register1.net

3. Seen quite a nice flash site template from http://www.flashmo.com/ and at the moment I think i could just plonk that info into my domain (when i get it) and adapt it by replacing the photos for mine along with changing the name etc to suit my needs.

At the moment I'm looking through the scripts to see how much of it i either understand or need to understand to see if i can expand a few things to include an info page / contact details etc outwith the already good portfolio site it supplies.

Any advice on sites i could look for altering a flash site?

Great thing about Flickr is you can use it to store and manage all your images. Done. No messing, no difficulties.

Then with a little bit of online learning, you could look at using the Flickr API to feed your website. Bit of jQuery, bit of CSS styling and you've got yourself an easy to manage website.

Give me a shout if you want me to point you in the right direction.
